My 17wk old Sprocker pup takes after his cocker father and after 20yrs in working springers, reminds me why, over 30 yrs ago I loved my first cocker so much. Now I have found your site I think a rescue cocker will fill the next vacancy - but don't let my senior ladies hear that, in any case we hope they'll have a good few more years yet.

I'm in a similar situation to Janice Lilley No. 992, we rescued an Orange Roan cocker spaniel on Easter Sunday 2009. Dave is approx 3 yrs old and was kept locked away in a shed for almost 3 years, his previous owner only kept him for breeding from but didn't care for him in anyway shape or form, they basically neglected him just so they could make some cash! He was also only fed and watered when they felt like it, anyway to cut a long story short they eventually got fed up with him and were going to have him put to sleep but he's now with us, safe and very happy.

Dave was in a awful state when we got him, he was very smelly, his fur was matted and never been groomed in 3 years, claws overgrown, so we immediately booked him into our vets for a full checkup, he was neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and had a scale and polish on his teeth. The dog groomer came round and performed a miracle, now he's a delightful and wonderful companion for our other cocker 'Lucy' and a best friend to me and the rest of our family. Looking at photographs of Dave before and after, he looks so different now.

It's beyond belief how can people be so cruel to animals and it makes me so angry!

If you ever get the chance to rescue a cocker spaniel or any other dog for that matter, please do so and give them a chance of a wonderful happy life, you won't regret it!

An excelent site. Am looking desperately for a puppy to welcome into our home, love the breed and have had them in the past. Very informative, up-to-date(which makes a change) and dedicated to a fantastic breed of mans best friend. Looked through the site for information regarding reputable breeders in my area and will contact a representative obtained from your site living in the Newport area. Would appreciate any help regarding finding a puppy in or around the South Wales area.

Sadly recently lost my beloved blue roan Working Cocker bitch and am considering fostering - a friend told me off as she maintains I would be depriving a needy dog a good home (I'm sure she was being positive...), I could never replace Maisie - but I'd love to give another character the chance to develop and have loads of fun. I found this site incredibly helpful and informative. Very many thanks. K

I have just adopted a black bitch of about 18 months old. She was very badly treated and in a filthy condition when we got her. She has landed on her feet with a good home and two loving parents. She is so gentle and loving. As I have owned a dog and a bitch in the past I really understand the breed and would consider adopting another if my circumstances improve in the future. It is nice to know that this site exists for any information or help I require in the future. Janice
